Hallway Procedures
Basic hallway procedures and the reasons for them:
Two lines: By walking in two lines, side-by-side (instead of one long line), we clear intersections quickly so that others may use them.
Properly spaced: By leaving just the right amout of space between each member of the line, we respect each other's safety and privacy, and we clear intersections quickly so that others may use them.
Straight and to the right: By keeping our lines straight and to the right, we make it easy for people to move in the opposite direction on the other side of the hall.
Silent: By remaining silent in the hallways, we support other students by eliminating unncessary distractions to their learning.
Line leader responsibilities:
Walk if the procedures are being followed. Stop if they are not being followed.Advanced skills:
Stop to let a person, or small group of people (no greater than four), cross your path.
If they don’t cross, smile and say, “It's okay, we're not in a hurry.”
If they still don’t cross, wait for 5 seconds, say, "Okay, maybe next time," and then proceed.
